Product DescriptionThe GTS1801/G1801 ac-coupled Hall effectgear-tooth sensors are monolithic integratedcircuits that switch in response to changingdifferential magnetic fields created by movingferrous targets. These devices are ideal foruse in non-zero-speed, gear-tooth-basedspeed, position, and timing applications suchas in anti-lock braking systems, transmissions,crankshafts and so on.The GTS1801/ G1801, when coupled with aback-biasing magnet, can be configured toturn ON or OFF with the leading or trailingedge of a gear-tooth or slot. Changes in fieldson the magnet face caused by a movingferrous mass are sensed by integrated Halltransducers and are amplified by erroramplifier. The ac-coupled amplifier sensingdesign provides immunity to radial vibrationwithin the devices’ operating air-gaps.Steady-state magnet and system offsets are
eliminated using a band-pass filter. This filteralso provides relative immunity to interferencefrom RF and electromagnetic sources. Theinternal temperature compensation andSchmitt trigger circuitry minimizes shifts ineffective working air gaps and switch pointsover temperature, allowing operation to lowfrequencies over a wide range of air gaps andtemperatures.Each Hall-effect digital Integrated circuitincludes a voltage regulator, a quadraticHall-effect sensing element, temperaturecompensating circuitry, an error amplifier,band-pass filter, Schmitt trigger, and an open-
